STH YOUNG ARTIST DANCE/THEATER APPLICANTS
This pre- professional training program is geared toward developing the most outstanding and original dance/theater artists of tomorrow. Young Artists create and perform their own original choreography throughout the year, work with professional guest artists, and are often invited to participate in STH’s adult professional productions.

Over the years, STH Young Artists have also earned scholarships to the American Dance Festival, the Alvin Ailey School, and the Feld Ballet, in addition to colleges throughout the country upon graduation. They have also performed with STH’s adult company at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, at the World Trade Center, and at Lincoln Center, as well as performing independently at such venues as the Kitchen, P.S. 122, DTW, and with Meredith Monk/The House. Grown alumni of this youth program have recently presented their own work – or performed in the work of others –  at Danspace, Judson Church, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Kitchen, Dixon Place, the Socrates Sculpture Garden and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

All STH Young Artists are required to take a minimum of two technique classes a week at Spoke the Hub, and must be available for occasional additional rehearsals and performances throughout the year. This is a year long commitment.
