Space Rental Fees and Terms 2009-10

*Please note our Space Rental Manager is only in the office Monday 9am-12pm, Wednesday 3-7pm and Friday 9am-12pm.  Space Rental requests can be sent to space@spokethehub.org, or call 718.408.3234.*

REHEARSALS
1 – 5 hours/month $15/hr.
6 hours or more/month $10/hr.
Subsidized, in part, through funding from the New York State Council on the Arts and Dance Theater Workshop.
*Please note that rehearsals are booked at the Gowanus location, 295 Douglas St.

SHOWINGS, MEETINGS, CONFERENCES, RETREATS, WORKSHOPS, AUDITIONS, VIDEO & PHOTO SHOOTS*
Minimum Rental: 3 hours $200
Same Day, Additional Hours (or parts of hours) $50/hr.
Note: Set-up and clean-up time must be included
in time booked.
*Director approval is required for all video & photo shoots

CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAY PARTIES*
Minimum Rental: 2 hours, $200
Same Day, Additional Hours (or parts of hours) $50/hr.
Note: Set-up and clean-up time must be included in time booked

SPOKE THE HUB DOES IT ALL CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAY PARTIES*
Minimum Rental: 2 hours, $500
Same Day, Additional Hours (or parts of hours) $100/hr.
Spoke the Hub decorates the space and provides a teaching artist and an assistant to run one hour of creative arts activities (movement, games, art projects, music, etc.) Renter provides refreshments, party favors, and supervises children before and after arts activities. 20 children maximum.
Note: Set-up and clean-up time must be included in time booked

ADULT PARTIES, RECEPTIONS, SOCIAL EVENTS*
6 hour block $675
Same Day, Additional Hours (or parts of hours) $100/hr.

*For all parties and other special or social events, a Spoke the Hub Representative must be on site and hired at $25/hr. They are there to answer your questions, lock and unlock the space, help supervise your helpers in setting up and cleaning up the space, greet and direct guests at the door during the party/event and to make sure your event runs smoothly and safely.

PERFORMANCE SPACE PACKAGE
Spoke The Hub provides:
3 PERFORMANCES: $2,500

(Friday, Saturday 6:30 – 10:30 pm
Sunday 4 to 8 pm or 6:30 to 10:30 pm)

Spacing Rehearsal (3 hours to be arranged)
Technical Rehearsal (4 hours to be arranged)
Dress Rehearsal (3 hours to be arranged)
Basic Lighting Plot
Sound and Light Board Operator (at tech, dress and all performances)
House Manager (at performances only, 6:30-10:30pm)
Phone Reservation Service (2 weeks prior to performance)
Audience Seating (30 chairs, floor cushions – 50 capacity)
Note: Spacing, technical, and dress rehearsals to be arranged around class schedule.

Renter is responsible for Stage Helpers, Box Office Personnel, Lighting Designer (if desired); rental of any additional lighting or technical equipment; piano tuning; additional Liability Insurance; creation and printing of programs, press releases, advertisements, and other promotional materials (with credit lines to be reviewed and approved by Spoke the Hub prior to printing and distribution); video taping and photography.

Additional Costs:
Additional Performances : $750 per show
Subsidized Rehearsal Space prior to performance week: $10/ hour
Additional tech, dress and performance space time: $35/hour
Equipment/Prop/Set storage: $25/ per week
Key deposit: $35

Artists keep all box office receipts.

Payment:
A non-refundable deposit of $500 reserves the space for the artist.
A second payment of $1,000 is due 2 months prior to performance.
A final payment of $1,000 is due Monday before the performance weekend. Additional costs accrued during performance week are due prior to second show. Cash, checks or major credit cards accepted.

BARE BONES SINGLE PERFORMANCE
(6 Hour Block- 5:00-11:00pm): $600
Additional Hours $50/hr
50 chairs and floor cushions – 75 capacity

Payment:
A non-refundable deposit of $100 reserves the space for the artist.
A second payment of $250 is due 2 months prior to performance.
A final payment of $250 is due Monday before the performance weekend. Additional costs accrued during performance week are due prior to second show. Cash, checks or major credit cards accepted.

UPGRADED SINGLE PERFORMANCE
(6 Hour Block- 500-11:00pm): $1,500
Additional Hours $50/hr
Basic Lighting Plot
Light Board Operator (at tech, dress and all performances)
Riser Seating (50 chairs, risers, and floor cushions – 75 capacity)

Payment:
A non-refundable deposit of $500 reserves the space for the artist.
A second payment of $500 is due 2 months prior to performance.
A final payment of $500 is due Monday before the performance weekend. Additional costs accrued during performance week are due prior to second show. Cash, checks or major credit cards accepted.

TEACHING
$25/hr for series of classes, once a week at the Gowanus location

STORAGE
$25/week
When space is available, props, costumes and other stored items may be stored in designated unlocked areas. For longer storage periods, several closets on the second floor are sometimes available for $50/month.

II. DEPOSITS

KEYS
A $35.00 refundable key deposit is required of all users.
Keys must be picked up from, and returned to Spoke the Hub Re:Creation Center, 748 Union Street (just below 6th Ave.) Brooklyn. Under no circumstances may keys be copied or lent to another person without permission from Spoke the Hub.

CLEANING
Rental for large events including parties, performances, conferences, etc. requires a separate deposit of $500 in addition to rental fee. Deposit will be returned upon inspection of the space by a representative of Spoke the Hub. (Please consult rules below.) Any cleaning or maintenance costs resulting from said event will be deducted from this amount.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations with less than one month’s notice cannot be refunded.

There is absolutely no smoking anywhere inside the building at any time, or out on the fire escape.
Rehearsal Space is reserved upon receipt of full payment only.
