Gowanus Arts
Founded in 1985 by STH Director/Founder Elise Long with partners Mary Ann Banerji, Marc Eichen, Jonathan Stewart and David Steiger Wolfe, the Gowanus Arts Building (originally called the Gowanus Arts Exchange) was once a derelict soap factory, reincarnated as a thriving 15,000 square foot artists’ “habitat” which provides work space for dozens of visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors, a recording studio, and an architectural firm, in addition to being Spoke the Hub’s main rehearsal and performance space.
