Become A Friend
Spoke the Hub has been building community through the arts in Brooklyn since 1979. Since our inception, we have spawned Park Slope’s most vibrant community arts centers, produced the work of hundreds of performing, literary, and visual artists including the original dance/theater work of Founder/Director Elise Long, and taught literarally thousands of people of all ages — all of this accomplished with miniminal corporate sponsorship, no endowments, and no major foundation or government support.
We have survived – indeed, thrived – for three decades primarily on earned income and our own ingenuity and resourcefulness – and through the generous contributions from people like you.
Your tax-deductible contribution helps support:
- Scholarships to over a dozen talented young people of color each year;
- Free performances and workshops for the whole family, out on the street and in Brooklyn’s most beautiful community gardens, each spring and summer;
- Inexpensive and spacious rehearsal and performance space to over 50 dance and theater groups throughout the year;
- and the live theater work of performing artists who infuse color, creativity, imagination, challenge, spirit, depth, and great joy into our everyday lives.
