Elise’s Creative Clubhouse & Altruism Society

Email to RSVPWhat are you doing Saturday afternoons this Spring? Wouldn’t you like to be dancing, painting, exploring and making interesting “things” by yourself and collaboratively with other kids and adults and having a ball while helping others?

Then jump on Spoke the Hub’s newest creative bandwagon this fall and join STH Founder/Director, Elise Long, on a multi-disciplinary adventure that expands the innate “generosity” of heart and mind – within ones’ self and towards others — and uses those explorations and discoveries as a springboard for creative actions and altruism.

The Creative Clubhouse will meet Saturdays from 2:30-5:30pm at the STH Re:Creation Center. The Clubhouse starts March 9th!

Here is what we will be doing:

  • 2:30-3:00 Discussion, Imagining and Planning -  of individual and group altruistic projects that will benefit someone else as well as yourself, our neighborhood, and/or the world at large
  • 3:00-4:30pm  Dance Rehearsal - where we will improvise and compose a performance work together to be performed outdoors at Local Produce on June 2 or 3 and at our annual indoor Class Sharings on Thursday June 14th
  • 4:30-5:30pm  Special Projects - where we will paint, draw, construct, imagine, plot and scheme, and “actualize” our ideas on how to make our world, and other people’s world’s, a better place to live, work and play

Yes, the Clubhouse is open to children and adults of all ages (but children under age 7 need to come with a grown-up who will be in charge of keeping track of them).

No, it probably won’t work for you to just drop in now and then.  We are looking for a small but committed group of individuals interested in using their own imaginations and artistic activity for the common good.

Yes, it should be a great adventure and fun for us all!  We will also invite guest instructors from time to time to teach us something new that we might all agree we need to know!

So please let us know if you will be able to join me at the Clubhouse on Saturdays (by RSVP’ing above) and let’s get busy!

Thanks to a recent grant from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, STH can offer these exciting new 2.5 hour Creative Clubhouse workshops to young people and adults at a subsidized rate of $150 for a 14-week term. Kids younger than age 8 are welcome to take part but must come with an adult.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
