Pilates emphasizes flowing movements requiring the use of multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Controlled breathing and concentration are essential, making Pilates truly a workout for the body and the mind.
Benefits include spinal elongation, good posture, postural symmetry, abdominal strength, spine, pelvis and shoulder stabilization, muscular flexibility, joint mobility, prevention of or recovery from injury.

This is a 60-minute “open” mat class ranging from a beginner/intermediate to intermediate/advanced level depending upon the makeup of the class. Props are sometimes incorporated into the class to either facilitate the exercises or add a challenge. Pilates can be the foundation of your workout program or stand on its own.
